Grinding and Polishing

Surface Grinding
Our vertical spindle segmental grinding machines are capable of handling plates, castings and pre-machined components of formidable sizes to close tolerances, as well as offering value for money on smaller components. Stock removal is typically 2 to 5mm, but our machines can remove material at such a rate that conventional machining can not compete in some circumstances. The largest machine in this department has a 2540mm diameter magnetic chuck.

We have a Snow PP96 horizontal spindle grinding machine that is designed for close tolerance work on flats and angles. Our capacity is unrivalled in the area at 2.4 metres long by 1 metre wide.

Cylindrical Grinding
A range of cylindrical grinding machines, all fitted with coated abrasive polishing units, enable us to grind up to a length of 6.1 metres. And with a maximum diameter of 1066mm a whole host of components can be accommodated. Surface finishes down to 0.05microns can be achieved. We have a lifting capacity of 10,000kgs in this area.

Universal Grinding
With a swing of up to 760mm we can grind outside and inside diameters, faces and angles on intricate components.

Internal Grinding
Again, our capacity is formidable. With both chucking and planetary machines even the most awkward bores can be ground and polished.

Polishing
We can polish anything we can grind! i/d’s, o/d’s, flats, edges. All to a mirror finish if required. We also specialise in polishing flat plates to mirror finishes for the leading catering equipment manufacturers.
